New Manulife Phl CEO

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Manulife Philippines has a new president and chief executive officer in the person of Ryan Charland. He succeeds Indren Stephen Naidoo who has been appointed senior vice president and regional executive for Vietnam, Thailand and Cambodia. Prior to his new assignment, Charland was Manulife Financial regional chief risk officer based in Hong Kong. He also assumed roles in product development, finance and corporate risk management in the insurer’ head office in Toronto and US division John Hancock, before his relocation to Asia in November 2011. Meanwhile, Manulife Asia president and chief executive officer Robert A. Cook took exception to the contributions of Naidoo. “I would like to thank Indren for his contributions in leading Manulife Philippines over the last four years. In that time, the business saw a 170-increase in insurance sales, doubled the size of the agency force, and increased the sales from alternative channels from 2.5 percent of the business in 2009 to 15 percent in 2013,” Cook said. He added that Manulife Financial views the Philippines as important to its overall Asia growth strategy.
