Ramajo named Mercantile president

MANILA, Philippines - Lawyer Honorio Ramajo is now the president of Mercantile Insurance Co. after a new set of officers were elected to the insurer’s board headed by Mercantile chairperson Rosemarie Araneta Unson. Ramajo, who was formerly executive vice president of Mercantile, is a seasoned insurance man having served Mercantile since the company’s inception 51 years ago. He also served as chairman of the Philippine Insurers and Reinsurers Association (PIRA), the umbrella organization of all non-life insurance companies in the country in 2009 and 2010. The others elected to the Mercantile board of directors were Salud Jose as vice chairperson; Jaime de Leon Jr. as executive vice president and treasurer; lawyer Roberto Neri as corporate secretary; and lawyer Roselyn Raginio as assistant corporate secretary.
