Manila, Philippines - Sun Life Prosperity Funds, the family of mutual funds managed by Sun Life Asset Management Co. Inc. (SLAMC) received 11 awards from the Philippine Investment Funds Association (PIFA) during the 6th Annual Awards Night recently held at the Marriot Hotel at Resorts World Manila.
Grepalife Asset Management Co. (GAMC), whose mutual funds are managed by Sun Life Financial, also received three awards.
The 14 awards received by SLAMC and GAMC combined were given by PIFA in recognition of the exemplary performance of both companies’ funds in 2011.
PIFA is the trade organization of the country’s mutual fund industry. Every year, PIFA recognizes the top performing mutual funds in terms of returns for one-year, three-year, five-year and 10-year periods.
“These awards just prove that our funds have consistently yielded excellent long-term returns for our investors and we are looking forward to more awards in the future,” SLAMC chief operating officer and concurrently Grepalife Funds president Valerie N. Pama said, adding that this is an increase from the eight awards received in 2010.
According to Pama, SLAMC posted P24.6 billion in assets under management (AUM) and ranked second in the industry in this measure as of June 2012.
The company has also generated robust sales brought about by its ongoing campaign, Invest & Fly, designed to encourage more Filipinos to invest for the long term and at the same time have fun via a free trip to exciting destinations.
“With a minimum investment of P500,000 or $10,000 for the US dollar-denominated funds, one gets to fly to a dream destination abroad. That way, investors get the opportunity to grow their money through an instrument that promises higher returns and at the same time see the world for free, “ Pama added.
