Nick Joaquin Literary Awards 2011

MANILA, Philippines - Life insurer Pru Life UK has partnered with Philippine Graphic Publications Inc. in conducting the Nick Joaquin Literary Awards 2011. Named after the National Artist for Literature and the first editor-in-chief of The Philippines Graphic, this is an annual award that lauds the best fiction stories published in The Philippines Graphic. This year’s winners are Thomas David Chavez in first place, with Charmaine Carreon and Alex Almario in second and third place, respectively. Also honored in the ceremony is the Rio Alma Lifetime Achievement Awardee for the year, multi-awarded writer, publisher and artist Gilda Cordero-Fernando. Pru Life UK gave personal accident (PA) insurance coverage of P100,000 to each to the three awardees as one of their prizes.
