ABA confab in Manila
MANILA, Philippines - Bankers and bank regulators from the Asia-Pacific region are expected to gather in Manila on October 29-30, 2009 for the 26th General Meeting and Conference of the Asian Bankers Association (ABA).
Hosted and organized by the Rizal Commercial Banking Corp. (RCBC), the meeting will focus on the theme “What’s Ahead for Asian Banking.”
Prominent speakers from both the private and public sectors includes: Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Governor Amando M. Tetangco Jr., Morgan Stanley Asia chairman and author of The Next Asia (Wiley) Stephen Roach; Asianomics Ltd. founder and managing director Dr. Jim Walker; McKinsey & Co. Philippines president and chief executive officer Christopher Beshouri; Asian Development Bank senior advisor for financial sector Noritaka Akamatsu; Credit Suisse vice chairman for Asia and the Pacific Jose Isidro Camacho: Standard Chartered Bank managing director Bala Swaminathan; JP Morgan managing director Shun Pang; and Morgan Stanley Private Wealth Management Asia managing director Charles Mak.
Its members include the Philippines include the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP), East West Banking Corp. (East West Bank), the Metropolitan Bank & Trust Co. (Metrobank), the Philippine National Bank (PNB), and RCBC.
