Two major corporate players in their respective industries have joined hands in making insurance affordable to Juan de la Cruz and his family.

Somehow they were prompted by the sad memories of natural and man-made tragedies. The sinking of m/v Doña Paz, the 1991 earthquake and, the flash floods that killed thousands in Leyte are tragedies that may not have been avoided but financial protection could have made things easier for those left behind.

Studies indicate that 99 percent of Filipinos don’t have accident insurance coverage. So when an accident happens, many families suffer not only emotionally but also financially because they have no insurance.

Good thing is accident insurance is now within reach by a greater number of Filipinos. And this is made possible by a partnership between two corporate leaders, Malayan Insurance and Globe Handyphone, which recently launched a new text service called "P1 a Day" – the fastest, cheapest and easiest way to get insured.

For only P1 a day, Globe and Touch Mobile subscribers can get up to one year accident insurance worth P250,000 from Malayan Insurance. All they have to do is text once and they’ll be insured for P250,000 right away. No medical check-ups required and no monthly bills. Best of all, they only have to shell out P1 a day.

Those interested need only to text: INSURE<Full Name> and send to 2283.

Upon registration and every 15 days thereafter, P15 will be deducted from the subscribers‚ pre-paid accounts as payment for the 15-day insurance coverage.

If a subscriber does not have P15 in his/her pre-paid account, he/she will receive a text message reminding them to reload within 24 hours in order to continue the insurance coverage. Failure to reload within 24 hours will terminate the insurance.

After registration and every payment, the subscriber will receive a text message confirming the insurance coverage with the effective dates as well as the insurance coverage number.

For the subscriber‚s protection, he/she must sign the insurance certificate that will be made available in newspaper ads or in any of the 40 Malayan Insurance branches and 70 Globe business centers nationwide.
