BIR opens 2 new offices

-
The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) is ready to launch this month, two more district offices in the revenue regions of Cebu and Manila which will serve as a one-stop shop to cater solely to the needs of their top 200 identified taxpayers.

BIR Commissioner Rene G. Bañez, the large taxpayers district offices (LTDOs) for BIR Cebu and Manila, have been put up to further expand the coverage of the bureau’s services to the taxpayers, which he foresees will eventually boost higher revenue collection based on the successful operation of the first LTDO in BIR Makati.

"With the three LTDOs in place, proper administration and timely monitoring of taxes from Large Taxpayers geographically, will be much easier to do which will result to bigger collection outputs," Bañez said.

The two LTDOs will be operational in an integrated tax system (ITS) environment by March 2002.

All key ITS front-end systems such as registration (REG) limited bank data entry (LBDE), collection and bank reconciliation (CBR), returns processing (RPS), taxpayer accounting (TAS), returns compliance (RCS) and case monitoring (CMS) will be rolled-out.

The LTDO is a separate division of the bureau under the supervision of the Large Taxpayer Service, which handles the implementation of policies, work programs, standard guidelines and procedures on taxpayer assistance, collection assessment and processing of data relative only to large taxpayers identified in their respective revenue regions.

It is composed of four sections such as LT Assistance, LT Collection and Enforcement, LT Assessment and LT Document Processing and Quality Assurance which support its operation.
