MANILA, Philippines — The second most wanted fugitive who has been tagged in shooting incidents in Quezon City was arrested last Friday morning.

Rolando Paa, 59, was apprehended by operatives based on a warrant of arrest for murder issued by a Quezon City regional trial court, which refused to grant bail.

Quezon City Police District director Col. Melecio Buslig Jr. said Paa was standing in front of the QCPD’s Traffic Sector 5 in Barangay Commonwealth when he was apprehended at around 10 a.m. that day.

Buslig did not reveal details about the murder case that Paa is facing, but based on their background investigation, the QCPD chief said the suspect is involved in shootings in Quezon City as well as owning loose firearms.

During Paa’s arrest, police officers found a .45 caliber handgun from the suspect, who was not able to present documents showing that he obtained the firearm legally.

Buslig said police officers swooped down on Paa’s residence after he admitted that he has other firearms.

Seized during the follow-up operation were a 5.56 caliber rifle, a .45 caliber pistol, one .38 caliber revolver and at least 152 assorted bullets.

“This operation is a testament to our continued efforts to make Quezon City safe from criminals,” Buslig said in a statement.

The QCPD filed cases against Paa for violating Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
