Agri journalists elect new officers

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Agricultural Journalists, Inc. (PAJ) held its annual convention and election of officers last Friday (Feb. 21) at the Philippine Coconut Authority Auditorium.

Leading the newly-elected PAJ officers is The STAR business editor Roman Floresca who returned to serve his sixth term as president. Floresca said the new leadership would revive such projects as the PAJ Forum and the Binhi Awards for Agricultural Journalism.

Other elected officers are: Noel Reyes of the Department of Agriculture, vice president for internal affairs; Matilde Maunahan of UPLB, vice president for external affairs; Ruby Lumongsod of Quedancor, secretary; Love Gado of PhilRice, assistant secretary; Inez Magbual of Best Media Source Corp., treasurer; Thelma Tolentino of PCA, auditor; Ray Eñano of Manila Standard Today, PRO for print; and Rolando Gonzalo of UNTV and DWIZ, PRO for  broadcast.

Elected directors are: Dr. Rex Navarro of CGIAR and ICRISAT; Melba Wee, DA-Zamboanga; Cora Abio, National Food Authority; Francisco de Guzman, Opinyon; Melody Aguiba, Manila Bulletin; Aileen Garcia, IRRI; and Lynn Resurreccion, Business Mirror.
