Support for Angat watershed widens

MANILA, Philippines -  A ‘Framework for Management and Protection of Angat Watershed’ was launched recently at the National Power Corp. in Diliman, Quezon City. The event was participated in by local and provincial  government units of Bulacan, Quezon, NPC, DENR, MWSS, Maynilad, Manila Water, Tanggol Kalikasan, AFP, NCIP,  other civil society groups and stakeholders. Maria Generosa T. Mislang, Tanggol Kalikasan’s executive director, presented a brief backgrounder and highlights of the plan. Addressing the guests and participants, NPC president and CEO Ma. Gladys Cruz-Sta. Rita said the plan is very crucial considering the growing concern on climate change, environment and ecological issues, particularly on the strategic importance of Angat Watershed as far as water supply and power generation are concerned.
