Coca-Cola FEMSA Phl wins awards at Zero Basura Olympics for Business

MANILA, Philippines - Coca-Cola FEMSA Philippines bagged the most number of awards at the recently concluded Zero Basura Olympics organized by the Philippine Business for Social Progress, Earth Day Network Philippines Inc., and in partnership with the Pollution Control Association of the Philippines, Philippine Business for the Environment, National Solid Waste Management Coalition, and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.

The Zero Basura Olympics for Business aims to recognize companies for their outstanding programs around solid waste management, in support of the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000 (RA 9003).

This year, 24 companies from various industries participated in the competition.

Seven Coca-Cola FEMSA plants were awarded for their various initiatives around solid waste management such as waste segregation, waste reduction, recycling, and residual waste management and disposal.

“At Coca-Cola FEMSA, we institute world-class manufacturing practices in our operations to ensure we minimize our impact on the environment. We are happy to play a role in helping government achieve its objectives towards making the Philippines a cleaner and greener country,” said Juan Ramon Felix, Asia Division director for Coca-Cola FEMSA.

The plants that were awarded were namely the Naga and Ilagan Plants which  received the Master Award; Misamis Oriental  and San Fernando Plants which received the Candidate Master Award; and special citations were given to Sta Rosa 1 and 2  and Ilocos Plants.

Coca-Cola FEMSA Philippines is part of the largest franchise bottler of Coca-Cola products in the world. It operates 22 plants across the Philippines.
