MANILA, Philippines - Clorox International Philippines Inc., through its Glad wraps and bags product line, recently joined the Re-New and Re-Green Project of The International Filipino newspaper at Dulong Buhangin Beach in Mulanay, Quezon.
Led by members of the Sangguniang Kabataaan (SK) in the area, each participant armed with garbage bags and other cleaning materials braved the heat and walked the entire stretch of Dulong Buhangin to rid the beachfront of broken glass, candy wrappers, empty bottles and other kinds of litter.
The act was also a way for the company and the entire community of Mulanay to add the beach to a long list of tourist attractions in the area while still helping promote environmental responsibility. The shore cleaning project was also meant to instill hope of a “greener future” for the next generation.
Since it was first introduced to the market, the leading brand of wraps and bags that provides solutions to kitchen dilemmas has already been taking action for the environment.
For over two years now, Glad has been sponsoring the “Boracay beach clean-up” drive which aims to clear off a lot of litter in the shoreline of one of the country’s top tourist destinations during summer.
Recently, the company also got involved in a similar eco-helpful project called the “Protect a Hectare” activity of the ABS-CBN’s Save La Mesa Project. The project supports the rehabilitation and protection efforts of the La Mesa Ecopark mainly through reforestation. It has also sponsored the protection of a one-hectare area consisting of 400 trees.
