Partnership for Clean Water compliance formed

-

MANILA, Philippines - Most studies indicate that domestic wastewater is the principal cause of organic pollution (at 48 percent) of our water bodies. Yet, only three percent of investments in water supply and sanitation are going to sanitation and sewage treatment. A recent World Bank report pointed out that Metro Manila was second to the lowest in sewer connections among major cities in Asia at less than seven percent, compared to 20 percent for Kathmandu, Nepal and 30 percent for Dhaka, Bangladesh.

With all the risk factors that may develop with unsafe water, the implementation of the Philippine Clean Water Act of 2004 (RA 9275) is imperative – and yet compliance is low. Despite fines of up to P200,000, it is estimated that almost 70 percent of businesses in Metro Manila may have to be shut down if compliance with the Clean Water Act would be strictly monitored.

To this end, Falcon Waterfree Phils., Inc and First Envirotech Corp., joined forces last week for a presentation on safe, environment-friendly, and economically-sound solutions to the problem of clean water management and clean water compliance .

Present at the ceremonies were Patrick Wall, senior commercial officer of the US embassy, Malabon Mayor Tito Oreta, Environmental Management Bureau Director Julian Amador, Laguna Lake Development Authority general manager Ed Manda, former Mandaluyong Vice-Mayor Jesse Cruz, Agusan del Sur Governor Valentina Plaza Cornelio, Falcon Waterfree president Ditmar Gorges and Bio-Microbics president Robert Rebori.

Both companies presented plans that underlined that the two systems, working together, are both ecologically and economically sound water management solutions. Falcon Waterfree Technologies, already in use by clients including SM Supermalls and Department Stores, Robinson’s Malls, McDonald’s, Jollibee, ADB, DENR, Manila City Hall, Megaworld, Banco de Oro, St. Luke’s Medical Center, Rufino Tower, Citibank, Net Group, Ayala Land, among others, offers a Zero Payment Scheme Concept that basically has no initial investment or capital, and amortizations that will be equivalent to their operational cost savings. This makes Falcon Waterfree the most affordable waterfree system in the market.

The FAST System, on the other hand, offers their STPs through in-house financing to the QSR and oil industry clients for less than P10,000 a month for a mid-size restaurant or gasoline station.
