Biodiversity center releases 2009 calendar, planner

-

The ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity (ACB) announced the release of its 2009 calendar and planner.

ACB is an intergovernmental regional center of excellence which facilitates cooperation among the members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), and with relevant national governments, regional and international organizations on the conservation and sustainable use of biological diversity.

“Both the calendar and the planner feature vivid photos and descriptions of ASEAN heritage parks and the many species found in the 10 ASEAN member States,” Rolando A. Inciong, head of ACB public affairs, said.

“We hope that these materials will be useful in generating a greater awareness for ACB, its core initiatives, as well as the rich but highly threatened natural treasures that the ASEAN region cradles,” Inciong said.

Known as the first regional initiative to save the ASEAN’s thinning biodiversity, ACB was established by ASEAN and the European Union (EU) on September 27, 2005. With its battlecry “Conserving Biodiversity, Saving Humanity,” ACB performs its mandate through programme development and policy coordination, human and institutional capacity development, biodiversity information management, public and leadership awareness of biodiversity values; and sustainable financing mechanism.
