Agri journalists to visit hybrid rice demo farm
Members of the Philippine Agricultural Journalists (PAJ) will go on a familiarization tour of the hybrid rice research center and demo farm of SL Agritech Corp. on April 11 in Barangay Oogong in Sta. Cruz, Laguna.
Sanny Galvez, PAJ president, said his group will tour the firm’s research laboratory facilities and its 40-hectare demonstration farm “for us to be familiar with its research and technological development in our rice industry at SL Agritech.”
A mini press conference with officials of the company headed by Henry Lim, chairman and chief executive officer (CEO), will follow after the showing of a film on the history of SL Agritech Corp.
Organized in September 2000, SL Agritech is the country’s top producer of the SL-8H hybrid rice seeds variety. It manages a 700-hectare production area in Lupon and Sto. Tomas in
From SL Agritech research center, the group will proceed to UP Los Baños at SEARCA to attend a symposium organized by the PAJ Calabarzon chapter. Highlight of the affair will be the launching of its newsletter, Agri at Calabarzon.
