Search on for best info campaign

-
Muñoz, Nueva Ecija – Mycotoxin, a poisonous and carcinogenic substance produced by molds, has put the agriculture industry at risk. It can result to various health dysfunctions and even economic collapse.

This threatening reality has prompted the launching of a search for Best Information Campaign on Mycotoxin to curb the sprouting dangers of mycotoxin. It aims to increase awareness of the industry’s stakeholders and so as to combat mycotoxin’s spreading hazards. This activity is set to run for seven months starting with the submission of communication plans in September. The judging and selection of winners is scheduled in April 2005.

Participants are regional information officers of the Department of Agriculture who have attended a four-day training course on the prevention and control of mycotoxin in maize at BPRE. They have crafted individual communication approaches on how to address the issue to the audience.

Criteria will be based on strategy, creativity/innovativeness, resourcefulness, implementation and effectiveness of the campaign. The awarding will be held on the 27th anniversary of the Bureau of Post harvest Research and Extension in May 2005. Trophies and cash are spared for the top three winners.

The search is expected to augment the people’s limited knowledge on mycotoxin and encourage them to adopt the recommended practices in the prevention and control of mycotoxin to farm crops.
