Hog Farmers Week set April 4 to 10

President Arroyo has declared April 4-10, as Hog Farmers Week in support of the 14th National Convention and Trade Exhibits of the National Federation of Hog Farmers Inc. (NFHFI), Nemesio G. Co, chairman of the group, said.
The 14th NFHFI national convention and trade exhibits will be hosted by the Cavite Livestock and Poultry Farmers Cooperative headed by Belen B. Chavez on April 7-9, at the Tagaytay International Convention Center. The theme of the convention is "Paghahayupan, Gulong ng Masiglang Agrikultura at Matatag na Pamayanan".
Convention chairman Lawrence C. Yu said theme highlights the importance of the hog industry which is currently valued at P92 billion.
NFHFI president Albert R.T. Lim Jr. said President Arroyo recognizes the role hog farming plays in accelerating the development of the livestock industry.
"We are happy with the declaration made by the president. It further empowers hog farmers to achieve the goals of the administrations food security program," said Calipfarmco chairwoman Belen B. Chavez.
The event will feature some of the countrys breeders and manufacturers of farm equipment.
Exhibitors are: PIC Phils, Sustamina, Cafcor, Eastern Vet, Nex Gen/Merlo, Merial, Intervet, NSJ, Schering Plough, Bayer, Inphilco, Ceva, Premium, GS Pagtakhan, Blaine Marketing, Atlanta PVC, Mingley, JDC, Limcoma, Pfizer, Nuevo Milenio, Grain Handlers. Phils., Nutrivitus, Enson Laboratroy, Xarion, Cledacor, CEFN, Elanco, Agri-Specailists, P & J and Boradchem.
There will be a series of seminars on modern swine raising methods and combating the most common diseases that afflict the industry. Attendance of the events is open to the public for free.
Founded in 1990, NFHFI is a non-stock, non-profit organization composed of 32 associations all over the country. It was formed to enhance the opportunities for growth, efficiency, equity and sustainability of the hog farming industry.
