Hog raisers set convention-exhibit in Cebu City

The country’s largest national federation of commercial and backyard hog raisers will hold its 12th convention and exhibit in Cebu City on April 25-26.

This is the National Federation of Hog Farmers, Inc. (NFHFI) headed by its chairman Nemesio Co with 20 member associations across the country.

The Cebu Poultry & Livestock Association Multi-Purpose Cooperative (CPLAMPC), Cebu’s first and biggest livestock cooperative, will host the event.

While the convention will be held at the Cebu City SM Conference Center, the exhibit will be mounted simultaneously at the the SM Trade Hall. Expected to attend the gathering are hog raisers and entrepreneurs not only from the Visayas and Mindanao but also from Luzon.

Project manager Gina Sybico of CPLAMPC says that the event with the theme "Pork as Lifestyle" is the federation’s way of promoting pork as a healthy and succulent food which provides convenience to consumers and in the process, gives jobs to thousands of farmers. New technologies in hog farming and cutting edge marketing savvy will be discussed in the seminars and reading materials.

During the convention, exhibitors of products allied to pig husbandry will display their wares – feeds, mdicines, equipment paraphernalia and other supplies – at the SM Trade Hall in their respective booths.

Aside from the seminars, there will be entertainment fares for everyone: raffles, gifts, lechon parade and tasting, product launchings and demonstrations on cooking pork dishes.
