San Jose City plans 20-ha landfill

SAN JOSE CITY – A 20-hectare area in this city will be converted by the city government into a unique sanitary landfill project cum ecological park.

Mayor Alexander Belena said the access road leading to the proposed landfill site which is located in Barangay Sto. Niño 3rd is now being widened and filled with gravel.

Belena said that even wastes of rice mills operating in the city will be dumped in the area.

He added that the city government is planning to develop the area into a model and environment-friendly sanitary landfill in that will also showcase an ecological park where various tree species will be planted and nurtured by various agencies of government.

He said the city government wants to harness the city’s vast tourism potentials to become a leading tourist destination in the region. – Manny Galvez
