Morning blaze razes 47 structures in Talisay City

CEBU, Philippines — At least 47 residential structures were totally damaged, while nine others were partially damaged, after a third-alarm fire broke out in sitio Isla Verde, Barangay San Isidro, Talisay City, Cebu, on Saturday morning, September 12.
Fire Officer 2 Mar Dee II Auxtero, the fire/arson investigator, said the 47 totally damaged structures included 38 owned structures and nine shared structures. The nine partially damaged structures consisted of eight owned structures and one shared structure.
A total of 58 families, involving 210 individuals, were displaced by the fire, which affected an estimated 900 square meters and caused an estimated P1.35 million in property damage.
The incident was reported at 8:16 a.m., with firefighters arriving three minutes later. The response was raised to the first alarm at 8:20 a.m., followed by the second alarm at 8:28 a.m., and the third alarm at 8:34 a.m. as firefighters worked to contain the blaze.
The fire was brought under control at 9:02 a.m. and declared out at 9:07 a.m.
A total of 29 responders took part in the firefighting operation. The report listed eight Bureau of Fire Protection personnel, three ambulance personnel, and 18 auxiliary responders.
One person, identified as 41-year-old Joy Ispacio, sustained a minor abrasion and received treatment following the incident. No fatalities were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. — (FREEMAN)
