MANILA, Philippines — DMCI Homes, the property development arm of the Consunji family’s DMCI Holdings, is entering the meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions (MICE) space with the company’s first convention center opening in Batangas early next year.

DMCI Homes president Alfredo Austria said the company would open by February next year a convention center at the Solmera Beach Park Resort.

The resort’s main convention center, which has a capacity for 1,000 people, will feature a function hall of over 2,000 square meters, complemented by a 935-square-meter veranda.

These spaces are designed to host conferences, banquets and exhibitions of varying scale.

“ We made sure that it will be the best convention center in terms of look and feel,” Austria said.

“Because we cannot rely on domestic tourists alone, we thought that for the hotel to have a good occupancy, there should be a convention center,” he said.

DMCI Homes sees Solmera Beach Park Resort contributing to the broader tourism ecosystem in San Juan, Batangas.

Solmera Beach Park Resort aims to complement San Juan’s emergence as a destination for MICE.

The project, to be operated by DMCI Hospitality and Leisure Inc., is expected to generate demand for hospitality services and create opportunities for businesses that support tourism activity.

Austria said tourism developments ccould create benefits that extend beyond the property itself.

“We see Solmera Beach Park Resort as an opportunity to contribute to San Juan’s growing tourism and events sector,” Austria said.

“Beyond welcoming guests, we hope to support the local tourism ecosystem by creating opportunities for skills development, local enterprise participation and hospitality-related careers within the community,” he said.

Solmera Beach Park Resort is envisioned to be a beach park resort that caters to both leisure travelers and organized groups.

Located within a 7.5-hectare beachfront property, the development combines recreational amenities, accommodations, dining outlets and events facilities in a single destination.
