Shakey’s Pizza starts store shakeup

Closing down underperforming ones
MANILA, Philippines — Shakey’s Pizza Asia Ventures Inc. (SPAVI), one of the leading restaurant and kiosk chain groups in the Philippines, said it is not letting a good crisis go to waste as the company moves to restructure and rationalize its store network this year.
SPAVI chairman Christopher Po, in an online briefing yesterday, said the company has so far closed between 15 and 20 stores this year and is “still observing a few more.”
He said SPAVI sees 2026 as a year of restructuring and streamlining for the company.
“We’re really taking this as an opportunity, not letting a good crisis go to waste and restructure. Closing underperforming stores, streamlining our corporate support offices, etc., so that when the crisis is over, we would have already done the streamlining and our margins would return to what they were before. It’s really taking this opportunity to do the housekeeping. We look forward to better days,” Po said.
SPAVI, the company behind market-leading pizza chain Shakey’s, top food kiosk chain Potato Corner, as well as emerging brands such as Peri-Peri Charcoal Chicken, Sauce Bar, R&B Milk Tea, and Project Pie, ended the first quarter with a total of 3,039 stores and outlets.
SPAVI president and CEO Vicente Gregorio said the company has entered 2026 with a plan to deliver double-digit growth.
