DigiPlus names new president

MANILA, Philippines — Tycoon Eusebio Tanco has a simple marching order to the new president of digital entertainment company DigiPlus Interactive Corp.: “Just keep on top.”

“Just do what he feels is right,” Tanco, chairman of DigiPlus, said in a media briefing yesterday.

DigiPlus yesterday named finance veteran Ping Chen as its new president to lead the company in its next phase of growth.

Chen is succeeding Andy Tsui, who has stepped down after over four years of service as president and director at the company.

DigiPlus said Chen is bringing over 22 years of experience spanning the technology industry, investment banking, corporate finance, strategic investments and executive leadership across publicly listed companies in Asia and global markets.

Prior to his appointment, Chen served as chief financial officer, chief investment officer and executive committee member of one of Asia’s largest publicly listed technology and services conglomerates.

He also spent two decades in global investment banking in Hong Kong and London as senior managing director at Moelis & Co. and in Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Citi and Morgan Stanley.

Tanco said bringing Chen on the company’s board is a strategic move for DigiPlus.

“His extensive global experience, strategic insight and proven leadership capabilities position him well to help steer the company through our next phase of expansion and long-term value creation,” Tanco said.

Chen, for his part, said he would help the company push for its next phase of expansion, as DigiPlus continues to provide the best-in-class digital entertainment in the Philippines.

“My mandate is to help design our long-term strategy and execute, also to improve our financial performance and operational efficiency, to deliver higher values to investors and achieve sustainable growth,” Chen said.

“By navigating recent market transitions with prudence and deploying our resources strategically, we will expand our digital entertainment ecosystem and further elevate the user experience across our platforms,” Chen added.
