BCDA pushing Bataan as EV manufacturing hub

MANILA, Philippines — The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) is taking decisive steps to transform Bataan into a leading hub for electric vehicle (EV) development and manufacturing.
In a statement, the BCDA said it is ramping up efforts to advance EV development in Bataan.
BCDA executive vice president Gisela Kalalo and vice president for Strategic Projects Management Randy Viacrusis recently led a site visit and briefing with officials of the provincial government of Bataan, V-Green Global Charging Station Development Corp. and VinFast Electric Vehicle Philippines Corp. at Morong Discovery Park.
The activity highlighted the park’s potential as a strategic location for green and future-ready industries, including EV manufacturing.
V-Green is engaged in the operation of EV charging infrastructure.
Meanwhile, VinFast distributes EVs in the country.
Following the site visit, BCDA witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding by V-Green with the local government of Bataan for the deployment and operation of EV charging infrastructure in the province.
The partnership aims to support EV fleets and develop environmentally sustainable transport solutions for Bataan.
Initial activities under the partnership include the rollout of DC fast charging stations and the identification of locations.
There will also be public awareness initiatives to encourage EV adoption.
Kalalo said the partnership is expected to promote green mobility and better air quality.
