Fish deliveries drop in April

MANILA, Philippines — Fish unloading volumes at the country’s regional fish ports declined by eight percent in April, according to the Philippine Fisheries Development Authority.
PFDA said in its monthly report that a total of 50,222 metric tons of fish were unloaded in April, down from 54,602 MT in the same month last year.
Despite an overall decline in total fish deliveries, the Navotas Fish Port Complex saw its fish unloading reaching 26,575 MT, a 3.6-percent increase from 25,638 MT. This was the highest recorded unloading for the month.
This was followed by the General Santos Fish Port Complex with 15,162 MT, a significant decline from the 21,982 MT reported last year.
The Iloilo Fish Port Complex recorded a 13.8 percent increase in unloading volume to 2,751 MT from 2,417 MT in 2025.
The Bulan Fish Port Complex also saw fish deliveries rising by 33.1 percent to 2,714 MT from 2,038 MT.
On the other hand, PFDA said that its Lucena Fish Port Complex also registered a 4.8-percent decline in unloading volume to 1,786 MT.
The Davao Fish Port Complex also increased its unloading volume by 59.3 percent, from 255 MT to 406 MT.
The Zamboanga Fish Port Complex saw its fish volumes more than double to 820 MT from 391 MT the prior year.
The Sual Fish Port Complex posted fish delivery volumes at 2.8 MT during the month of April.
Meanwhile, the PFDA also reported that fish volumes rose to 129,886 MT from January to March, nine percent higher than the 119,063 MT a year ago.
Fish deliveries average at 1,443 MT per day, up from the 1,322 MT average logged during the same period last year.
