Emperador posts solid results despite global challenges

MANILA, Philippines — Global brandy and whisky conglomerate Emperador Inc. of tycoon Andrew Tan pulled off a solid first quarter performance despite a challenging global environment, with net profit increasing by five percent to P1.96 billion from last year’s P1.86 billion.

Net profit to equity holders of the parent company likewise grew by 4.5 percent year-on-year to P1.93 billion on the back of higher sales and margins, reflecting the company’s disciplined cost management, favorable product mix and continued focus on operational excellence across business units.

Emperador generated revenues of P13.35 billion during the period, slightly higher than the P13.21 billion recorded in the first quarter of 2025.

Brandy and whisky sales improved by six percent year-on-year as a result of sustained consumer demand, operational efficiencies and steady contributions from both local and global operations.

The group’s domestic brandy segment maintained stable growth amid evolving market conditions, while its international business continued to benefit from broader geographic diversification and expanding market presence.

Emperador said global operating environment during the quarter remained challenging due to geopolitical conflicts, disruptions in fuel supply, elevated energy prices and continued uncertainties affecting international trade and consumer markets.

The company’s balanced business structure and prudent management strategies, however, enabled it to sustain growth momentum and improve profitability.

Emperador president and CEO Glenn Manlapaz said the company’s first quarter performance demonstrated the resilience of its businesses and the strength of its diversified portfolio.
