MANILA, Philippines —  NanoForge Solutions Inc. yesterday inaugurated its $1.2-million facility for the production of air filters in Carmona, Cavite, marking the official start of operations.

Speaking at the inauguration of the facility, NanoForge co-founder Victor Aliwalas said that the new facility aims to deliver safe, clean, indoor air through the manufacture of world-class air filter products.

NanoForge CEO Michael Hansson said that the facility, which was first conceptualized in October 2023, had its soft opening last year.

Located at the Golden Mile Business Park, the facility covers 2,600 square meters and is currently supported by 65 employees.

Hansson said the plan is to grow the workforce to around 300 by the end of the year.

Air filters produced at the facility are primarily for export, particularly to the US.

Hansson said they are also looking to cater to other countries.

“Everything is for export, but we may have some domestic sales later this year,” he said

He said NanoForge decided to set up the facility in the Philippines given the founders’ affinity with the country and aim to help create local employment.

The team is composed of senior Swedish, American and Filipino engineers, project managers, as well as business professionals based in Sweden, the US and the Philippines.

Aliwalas said the facility is seen to help position the Philippines as a competitive and credible player in high-value technology-driven industries.

“Our long-term commitment is to contribute to the growth of Philippine manufacturing by integrating local raw materials, by developing globally certified products, especially for our US clients and ensuring that innovation and sustainability are embedded in every step of our process here in this facility,” he said.
