MANILA, Philippines —  The Zobel and Lopez clans have signed a partnership that would see Globe Telecom Inc. provide fiber connectivity to about 150 locators operating in the First Philippine Industrial Park (FPIP).

Globe has entered into a contract with the First Philippine Holdings Corp. (FPH) to set up high-speed internet within the FPIP in Sto. Tomas, Batangas.

The memorandum of agreement signed by Globe and FPH ensures that FPIP would be provided with enterprise-grade connectivity for its more than 150 locators and over 80,000 employees.

FPIP has its own shared dark fiber facility that was established in 2023. Globe will use this asset to deploy its services quicker, enabling a cost-efficient approach to setting up access.

Globe vice president for strategic partnerships and program Michelle Ora said it is important for FPIP to be equipped with high-speed connectivity to promote data-driven decision-making and real-time collaboration. The park is home to some of the largest Philippine locators.

FPIP hosts the manufacturing plants of aviation supplier Collins Aerospace; appliance producer Dyson; the motorcycle assembly of Honda; printer maker Brother Industries (Philippines) Inc.; tobacco leader Philip Morris Fortune Tobacco Corp.; among others.

“This partnership strengthens Globe’s commitment to delivering world-class fiber connectivity to businesses across the Philippines,” Ora said.

“We are proud to empower FPIP locators with seamless, secure and high-speed digital tools that enable innovation, enhance productivity and position them to compete confidently in the global market,” she added.

FPIP assistant vice president for park and utilities group Jason de las Alas said the park is in need of reliable connectivity to meet the demands of the digital era.

He added that locators demand the latest tools to ensure that they stay competitive in their industry.

“We understand our locators have diverse needs, which is why we continue to enhance the digital infrastructure in FPIP. We want to ensure we can support the changing and increasing demands for robust digital services,” De las Alas said.

Globe is one of the biggest providers of enterprise-grade connectivity in the Philippines, and the telco pairs this service with the latest innovation on cloud computing, data centers, among others.

FPIP is one of the largest economic zones in the country, covering close to 600 hectares of land in Sto. Tomas, Batangas, making it suitable for locators given its proximity to ports and to Metro Manila.
