CAMPI sees sales hitting 500,000 units this year
“We are confident,” CAMPI president Rommel Gutierrez told reporters yesterday when asked if vehicle sales are on track to hit the sales target for the year.

MANILA, Philippines — The Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. (CAMPI) is optimistic of hitting record-high sales of 500,000 units this year, banking on the growing popularity of electric vehicles (EVs) and the anticipated strong demand for cars during the holiday season.

“We are confident,” CAMPI president Rommel Gutierrez told reporters yesterday when asked if vehicle sales are on track to hit the sales target for the year.

“I think we can still reach 500,000,” he said.

If realized, this year’s vehicle sales would be an all-time high.

As of end-October, combined sales of CAMPI and Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA) reached 383,424 units, down slightly from 384,310 units in the same period last year.

Despite the dip in sales, Gutierrez said the group remains optimistic as EV sales are on the rise.

From January to October, CAMPI and TMA sold a total of 24,265 electrified vehicles.

Of the total sales of electrified vehicles, 19,379 units are hybrid EVs, 3,941 units are battery EVs and 945 units are plug-in hybrid EVs.

Gutierrez said CAMPI also expects the strong vehicle demand typically seen during the Christmas season to support higher sales.

Despite political noise stemming from the flood control controversy, Gutierrez said there has been little impact on the vehicle industry.

“We don’t feel that much impact,” he said.

While CAMPI has not yet set a sales target for next year, he said the group is hopeful of seeing a better performance in 2026.

He said CAMPI is set to hold the Philippine International Motor Show next year.

CAMPI will also be participating in activities related to the Philippines’ Association of Southeast Asian Nations’ chairmanship in 2026.
