MANILA, Philippines — Alternergy Holdings Corp. is setting aside around P8.8 billion to develop its proposed 140-megawatt (MW) floating solar project in Tarlac.

Alternergy said in a filing with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources that the Liberty Solar Power Project will be implemented in two phases on a 144-hectare site in the municipality of Paniqui.

Construction is targeted to start as early as April 2026, with completion slated for the second quarter of 2027.

Commercial operation, meanwhile, is scheduled for the third quarter of 2027, according to the company’s indicative timeline.

“The proposed project is fully aligned with the Philippines’ renewable energy transition, directly supporting the national shift toward cleaner, more sustainable energy sources,” Alternergy said.

Liberty Solar Energy Corp., a unit of Alternergy, will lead the development of the project, which emerged as a winner in the government’s fourth green energy auction round.

Alternergy, chaired by former energy secretary Vince Perez, is one of the fastest-growing renewable power companies in the country.

Recently, Alternergy obtained the Green Equity Label from the Securities and Exchange Commission, becoming the first listed Philippine company to receive this recognition.
