MANILA, Philippines —  Lopez-led First Philippine Industrial Park (FPIP) and 12 of its locators were recognized for being the biggest sources of revenues and jobs in Santo Tomas City in Batangas last year.

In a statement, FPIP said Santo Tomas City Mayor Arth Jhun Marasigan awarded plaques of recognition to FPIP and its locators, as well as other big sources of local revenues and employment during the local government unit’s Taxpayers’ Day held on Sept. 1.

Based on the records, FPIP and its locators contributed P159 million in taxes or 17 percent of the city’s P935-million income in 2024.

FPIP and its locators also accounted for the bulk or 60 percent of the city’s nearly 12,500 new jobs last year.

Under the real property tax category, FPIP and its locators Dyson Philippines, Ibiden Philippines Inc., Nippon Premium Bakery Inc., YKK Philippines Inc., First Batangas Hotel and Energy Development Corp. were among the city’s top 20 contributors last year.

Two other FPIP locators, meanwhile, were part of the city’s top sources of business tax. These are pneumatic control equipment manufacturer Shoketsu SMC Corp. and logistics company Nippon Express Philippine Corp.

Three FPIP locators were also recognized as part of the city’s top five sources of new jobs in 2024. These are Nexem-EMD Technologies; Philippine Manufacturing Company of Murata Inc. and Brother Industry Philippines Inc.

Amcor Flexible Philippines Corp., which is also an FPIP locator, was part of both the top sources of real property tax and business tax.

“We are honored to be part of Santo Tomas’ growth,” Ricky Carandang, head of FPIP’s external affairs and marketing department said.

“We are happy that our contributions have been helping the local government deliver fast and efficient public services and jobs to Tomasinos,” Carandang said.

For her part, Vice Mayor Catherine Jaurigue-Perez said FPIP and its locators’ contributions have helped drive economic progress and create opportunities in the city.

Established as a joint venture between First Philippine Holdings Corp. and Sumitomo Corp. of Japan, FPIP is one of the country’s leading economic zones registered with the Philippine Economic Zone Authority.

Covering 600 hectares, FPIP hosts over 150 world-class manufacturing firms.
