Maynilad bags multiple Philippine Quill Awards

MANILA, Philippines — Maynilad Water Services Inc., the company that supplies water to the west side of Metro Manila, received five honors at the recent 21st Philippine Quill Awards, one of the country’s most prestigious recognition programs for business communication.
In a statement over the weekend, the company said it earned an Excellence Award in the Employee Engagement category for its “Leak Warriors: Mobilizing Maynilad Employees for Water Recovery” program.
The program mobilized staff across departments to address water losses, a persistent issue in the utility sector.
In addition to the top prize, Maynilad said it received four Merit Awards for campaigns aimed at strengthening employee engagement, improving customer connection and raising public awareness.
One of the recognized programs, “Makialam, Makiisa, Magmalasakit: Rallying the Maynilad Organization Towards 88.3 percent,” focused on fostering teamwork and shared accountability among employees.
Another, “Mark the 39 percent: Maynilad’s 2024 NRW Reduction Campaign,” highlighted the company’s achievements in curbing water losses and aimed to inform the public about its ongoing operational improvements.
The company’s “Crisis Response to the Osmeña Highway Pipe Leak” was cited for demonstrating effective crisis communication during a significant service disruption.
Meanwhile, “Mayni-LAD to the Rescue! Wastewater Video Episode 6” was recognized for using creative storytelling to promote tributary river rehabilitation.
“These awards affirm how communication is central to our mission of delivering reliable water and wastewater services. Through clear, purposeful, and timely communication, we are able to engage our employees, connect with customers and respond effectively to challenges,” Maynilad president and CEO Ramoncito Fernandez said.
“This recognition inspires us to continue innovating in the way we tell our story and serve the public,” he added.
Maynilad said the recognition highlights the role of internal and external communication in achieving operational goals and addressing sector-wide challenges.
The company also emphasized that engaging the public through creative campaigns remains critical to fostering awareness of water management issues.
The Philippine Quill Awards honors programs, tools and research that demonstrate measurable impact in organizations and communities.
Winners are selected based on how effectively their initiatives influence behavior, strengthen engagement and support organizational objectives.
The awards program, organized by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Philippines, held its 21st edition last Aug. 27.
