MANILA, Philippines —  Snack food giant Monde Nissin Corp. is undertaking an initiative to elevate sustainable distribution by combining clean transport and local livelihood.

Through the Monde Fresh Express initiative, the company is powering up bread distribution using electric vehicles (EVs) while empowering local entrepreneurs.

“With Monde Fresh Express, we’re proving that we can deliver growth while also delivering cleaner air, greener cities and more inclusive opportunities for Filipinos,” Monde Nissin CEO Henry Soesanto said.

“Sustainability is not a side initiative for us – it is at the core of how we grow responsibly,” he said.

Monde Nissin said that through Monde Fresh Express, entrepreneur-dealers serve designated territories more frequently and reach multiple alternative consumer touchpoints, increasing freshness and availability while reducing food waste.

It said the responsive servicing model benefits consumers and enhances the profitability and sustainability of micro-entrepreneurs.

The company has deployed a fleet of electric vans to support this transformation for its urban delivery routes.

Monde Nissin said adopting electric vans not only lowers carbon emissions and reduces noise pollution but also enables high-frequency and multi-stop servicing, which is ideally suited for dense urban environments.

Entrepreneur-dealers are operating under the new model with a pilot test in Luzon, and more are set to be onboarded this month.

The company saw growing interest from local partners and communities, signaling strong potential for scaled impact.

“This project is a clear example of how business and social value can intersect. By optimizing logistics through clean transport, we’re also unlocking opportunities for sustainable entrepreneurship. Monde Fresh Express embodies our commitment to ‘Making Better Possible’ – driving business growth while creating positive change for people and the planet,” Monde Nissin chief sustainability officer Rizza Cajucom-Uy said.

Monde is a global food and beverage company headquartered in the Philippines. It is behind iconic and market-leading brands across fast-growing categories, including Lucky Me! noodles, SkyFlakes crackers, Fita crackers, Monde baked goods and Quorn meat alternative products.
