Raslag switches on 4th solar facility

MANILA, Philippines — Raslag Corp., the renewable energy arm of the Nepomuceno Group, is powering up its 1,000-megawatt (MW) target with the energization of its fourth and largest solar farm.

The company switched on the 36.65-MW-peak Raslag-4 in the municipality of Magalang in Pampanga, following the testing and commissioning of the facility to the 69-kiloVolt (kV) line of the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines.

Raslag-4 is expected to contribute about P624.34 million in revenues within the first two years of operations and produce 53 gigawatt hours of electricity to power around 24,000 homes annually.

“We are thrilled to have already completed four organic projects to help meet our nation’s growing energy demand. The Raslag-4 project marks another step toward putting power back into the hands of Filipinos,” Raslag president and CEO Robert Nepomuceno said.

With the completion of the new plant, the company’s total installed capacity now stands at 77.84 MW in just two years of being a listed firm.

This expansion aligns well with Raslag’s goal of achieving at least 1,000 MW of capacity over the next decade, with three more projects under construction.

Raslag is also setting its sights on expanding outside Pampanga, planning to develop and operate its next solar plant in the municipality of Santa Rosa in Nueva Ecija by 2026.

In January, the energy firm disclosed plans to acquire parcels of land with an estimated aggregate area of one million square meters in Nueva Ecija for about P807.73 million.
