KonsultaMD extends services to OFWs

MANILA, Philippines — Telehealth pioneer KonsultaMD has extended its reach to overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) by offering them medical products and services through an online store.

KonsultaMD yesterday announced it signed a partnership with digital platform SendVia for the sale of health products to OFWs.

The partnership adds KonsultaMD’s annual family health plan vouchers to the menu of medical products and services offered by SendVia.

The vouchers cover online consultations at any time of the day, any day of the week. Further, the vouchers provide in-clinic patient services, same-day medicine deliveries and at-home diagnostic tests.

KonsultaMD CEO Susana Beatriz Latay said the partnership with SendVia allows the company to serve the health needs of OFWs. KonsultaMD hopes to simplify the way that OFWs can avail themselves of medical products and services.

OFWs may also purchase for their families through the platform, as they can access SendVia online anywhere in the world.

“Our collaboration with SendVia allows an easy and reliable way for OFws to take care of their families’ health and wellbeing, no matter where they are in the world,” Latay said.

“We understand the challenges faced by OFWs and their families, and we aim to bridge the gap with care and compassion,” she added.

KonsultaMD is one of the biggest online health apps in the Philippines. In 2023, its parent unit Ayala Group consolidated its business with HealthNow and AIDE to deliver a super app for online consultation, medicine delivery and home care.

KonsultaMD saw its popularity grow at the height of the pandemic when Filipinos were forced to consult with their doctors online. Given its growing base, the app is viewed with much potential to become the next unicorn of the country after GCash.

SendVia, on the other hand, promotes itself as an alternative way for migrants to send care packages to their families and friends at home.

The platform offers an online store where migrants can select from a variety of care products and services that they can gift to their loved ones abroad.
