MANILA, Philippines — The 44-year-old Kevin Tan is taking over as president of the listed holding company of his father, tycoon Andrew Tan, in line with the retirement of key executive Kingson Sian.

Alliance Global Group Inc. (AGI) said Sian relinquished his position as director, president and chief operations officer of the company following his retirement from Travellers International Hotel Group on June 1.

In special meeting, AGI’s remaining directors, while still constituting a quorum, resolved to appoint Kevin as president of the company to serve the unexpired term of Sian.

The new position will add to his current roles as chief executive officer and vice chairman of AGI.

Having been part of the company since 2012, Kevin also serves as a director in numerous subsidiaries of the conglomerate, including Megaworld Corp., Emperador Inc., Empire East Land Holdings Inc., Global- Estate Resorts Inc. and MREIT Inc.

Kevin holds a Bachelor of Arts Major in Humanities with Professional Certificate in Management from the University of Asia and the Pacific. He has extensive experience in real estate and executive management functions.

Meanwhile, AGI’s Travellers International Hotel Group is also ushering in new leaders.

Travellers International, owner and operator of Newport World Resorts developer, has appointed Nilo Thaddeus Rodriguez as its new president and CEO and Lance Gautreaux as COO effective on June 1.

Rodriguez, who has been with Newport World Resorts since August 2022 as chief strategy officer, succeeds Sian who retired from the company.

Sian was at the helm of Travellers International, since its inception 16 years ago as the country’s first integrated resort developer. His retirement was originally planned in 2022 but was deferred to lead the company through the transition period.

Sian also relinquished his position as director, membership in the executive committee and designation as executive director of listed property giant Megaworld Corp. following his retirement from the company.

With over 25 years of professional experience, Rodriguez is expected to lead Travellers International in its next growth chapter.

He commenced his career with SGV & Co. and has gained substantial international experience in the travel and hospitality sector, including nearly a decade in Japan in senior finance roles at Hilton as well as in Delta and Northwest airlines.

Rodriguez also served as CFO of flag carrier Philippine Airlines for a number of years prior to joining Travellers International.

Meanwhile, Gautreaux, Travellers International’s new COO joined the company last year as chief casino officer.

Travellers International said Gautreaux has an extensive background in gaming and hospitality across multiple international jurisdictions and was a part of the Las Vegas Sands Corp. for over 12 years, holding key positions in multiple properties.

Gautreaux replaced former COO Hakan Dagtas, who along with former chief financial officer Bernard Than also left their respective posts effective June 1.

Dagtas and Than were both part of AGI’s former venture partner in the company.

Travellers International said the appointments conclude the year-long transition plan for the company since AGI assumed full ownership on May 30, 2023.

As AGI’s entertainment and hospitality arm, Travellers International continues to be the largest integrated resort in terms of footprint with 2,742 hotel room keys across its five international hotel brands.
