Bloomberry: No plans to bet on Thailand’s gaming market just yet

MANILA, Philippines — Enrique Razon’s Bloomberry Resorts Corp. has no plan to bet on Thailand’s gaming market just yet.

Reports have indicated that Thailand is moving to legalize casinos to boost tourism and jobs.

“There have been reports that Thailand is contemplating a gaming law but we have no idea what form it will be. It is of market interest,” Bloomberry said.

However, the owner of the Solaire-branded properties in the Philippines said the company currently has no plans to expand in Thailand.

“There is no such plan,” it said.

Bloomberry is a public company whose subsidiaries own and operate Solaire Resort Entertainment City in Parañaque, Jeju Sun Hotel & Casino in Korea and the newly opened Solaire Resort North in Quezon City.

Solaire Resort Entertainment City, the first integrated destination resort on an 8.3-hectare site in Manila’s Entertainment City features 793 luxurious resort-style accommodations in two distinctive towers.

Meanwhile, Solaire Resort North, which held its grand opening last Saturday, is the first and only five-star integrated resort serving northern Metro Manila and adjacent provinces.

The $1-billion integrated destination resort sits on a 1.5-hectare site in Quezon City.

With the opening of Solaire Resort North, Bloomberry said it sets a new benchmark for luxury and entertainment in Quezon City as well as solidifies its position as a trailblazer in the hospitality sector.

“By increasing our mass table offerings and effectively doubling our slot machine capacity, Solaire Resort North will put Bloomberry in a prime position to gain market share,” Razon earlier said.

Operations at Solaire Resort North are expected to be fully ramped up in two years.

“It will take at least a year to ramp it up and probably for full ramp up sometime within the second year. So at the end of two years it should be fully ramped up,” Razon said.
