PetroGreen unit, SNAP close power supply deal

MANILA, Philippines — A subsidiary of Yuchengco-led PetroGreen Energy Corp. (PGEC) has signed a power supply agreement with SN Aboitiz Power Group (SNAP).

The 10-year agreement signed on May 3 will allow San Jose Green Energy Corp. (SJGEC) to supply SNAP with 15.6 megawatts (MW) alternating current (MWac) from the former’s renewable energy facilities starting next year.

PGEC president and CEO Francisco Delfin Jr. said the agreement would strengthen the viability of their San Jose solar power project (SJSPP), their first investment in Nueva Ecija.

Slated for completion by early 2025, site development and transmission lines are ongoing for the 10.1 MWdc Phase 1 of the solar power project.

The other 9.5 MWdc Phase 2 will be online by the fourth quarter next year.

According to Delfin, SJGEC and SNAP had five previous contracts back in 2019 with the Tarlac-2 solar project.

He added that it “testifies to the continuing mutually beneficial relationship between our companies and our shared commitment to enhancing the country’s energy security through renewable energy.”

“This investment with PGEC for a long-term, renewable power supply aligns with our mission of providing responsible energy to our customers who share our commitment of championing sustainability and powering positive change for the country,” SNAP president Joseph Yu said.

PGEC is a subsidiary of Petro Energy Resources Corp. (PERC). which has other power projects, including the 32 MW Maibarara geothermal power project in Batangas, the 70 MW Tarlac solar power project, including the 36 MW phase 1 and 13.2 MW phase 2 wind projects in Aklan.

PERC, through PGEC, has acquired three new offshore wind blocks from the Department of Energy this year, covering offshore northern Luzon, northern Mindoro and eastern Panay.
