DoubleDragon to unveil new Hotel101 projects

MANILA, Philippines — DoubleDragon Corp., the property developer owned by Edgar “Injap” Sia II and Tony Tan Caktiong, is set to unleash new hotels under the Hotel101 brand starting this year.

Sia, chairman of DoubleDragon, said the company would open this year the 519-unit Hotel101-Davao, which is poised to be the biggest hotel in Mindanao.

Designed to accommodate diverse types of guests and travelers, Hotel-101-Davao will feature back-to-back commercial and retail shops for a more upscale hospitality experience.

Sia said slated to open next year is the 548-unit Hotel101 Cebu-Mactan, which is set to be the biggest airport hotel in Visayas region.

Hotel101-Cebu will offer rooms with cosmopolitan type of accommodation with its very own convention center and refined commercial strip.

Also currently under construction in the country is Hotel101-Libis which is set to be the largest hotel in Quezon City with 702 rooms.

Hotel101-Libis sits on a 2,547 square meter prime titled commercial lot which forms part of Bridgetowne District.

Other Hotel101 branded hotels for future developments in the country are in Palawan, Bohol, Boracay, Cagayan de Oro and Baguio.

Currently, there are two operating Hotel101 hotels, Hotel101-Manila and Hotel101-Fort.

The first Hotel101 branded hotel opened in June 2016 in the Manila Bay Area offering 518 uniformly sized rooms.

The second Hotel101 branded hotel located in Fort Bonifacio Global City opened its door to the public in August 2023 with a total of 606 rooms.

Aside from local expansion, DoubleDragon is also beefing up Hotel101’s presence abroad.

The company started last month the development of its Hotel101 project in Spain, which is set to become one of the top five largest hotels in Madrid once completed by late next year.

The 680-room Hotel101-Madrid is scheduled for full completion by the fourth quarter of 2025.

Sia said the 482-room Hotel101-Niseko project in Japan, meanwhile, is slated to be completed in 2026.

Hotel101-Niseko is set to become the first hotel in the whole of Niseko, Hokkaido Japan to secure CASBEE or Comprehensive Assessment System for Built Environment Efficiency rating.

CASBEE is Japan’s authoritative framework for evaluating the environmental performance of buildings.

Aside from Japan and Spain, a site has also been secured in Los Angeles, California to build the first Hotel101 in the US.

Hotel101’s long term vision is to have one million rooms, operating in over 100 countries worldwide.

Its first 25 priority countries for expansion include the Philippines, Japan, Spain, US, United Kingdom, UAE, India, China, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Singapore, Cambodia, Bangladesh, Mexico, South Korea, Australia, Canada, Switzerland, Turkey, Italy, Germany, France and Saudi Arabia.
