MANILA, Philippines — In a bid to foster a culture of innovation and excellence, Alsons Power Group staged its inaugural Innovation Conference (InnovCon) under the theme “Innovation: It’s for Everyone.”

The event held on March 21 in General Santos City served as a platform to champion the transformative power of innovation, continuous improvement, and collaboration across the organization.

Key highlights of the conference included insightful keynote addresses from executive leaders, open discussions on emerging trends and technologies, and an invigorating competition crafted to ignite creativity and sharpen problem-solving acumen. Participants had the opportunity to engage in lively idea exchanges and glean insights from shared best practices, fostering a vibrant atmosphere of collaboration and knowledge-sharing throughout the event.

“At Alsons Power, we believe that innovation is not just a buzzword; it’s a mindset that empowers individuals at every level to challenge the status quo and pioneer positive change,” said Antonio Miguel Alcantara, the group’s deputy CEO and is set to assume the CEO role starting April 1, 2024, to succeed the retiring Tirso Santillan.

With the conference’s overwhelming success, Alsons Power Group is eager to build on the momentum InnovCon created and further advance its innovation agenda.

“Anticipating the InnovCon next year, we envision a larger-scale event filled with breakthrough ideas and solutions poised to propel progress and enhance our existing practices within Alsons Power,” said Jose Luis Angco, the group’s VP for power generation.

Alsons Power, the power business unit of the Alcantara Group, currently has a portfolio of four power facilities with a generating capacity of 468 megawatts, providing safe, reliable, and affordable electricity to more than eight million people in Mindanao.
