Petron bags top taxpayer award from Navotas LGU
MANILA, Philippines — Oil giant Petron Corp. has been recognized by the city government of Navotas for its notable contributions as a taxpayer in 2023.
Petron received the top taxpayer award from the Navotas local government in recognition of the company’s efforts to make a positive impact in its communities.
The oil company was named Navotas’ third top taxpayer for real property taxes.
Petron’s Navotas terminal has continually ranked among the city’s top taxpayers, joining other Petron facilities that contribute to helping the country realize its tax targets.
“This award is another testament to Petron’s commitment to being a transparent and responsible corporate citizen,” the company said.
Last year, Petron was recognized by the Bureau of Customs as the leading contributor to its fuel marking program, a mechanism to curb fuel smuggling.
Petron was awarded for consistently topping its list of participating oil companies since the fuel marking program took effect in 2019.
The company’s Bataan refinery can supply around 40 percent of the the country’s total domestic fuel requirement given its 180,000-barrel-per-day capacity.
Petron is scheduled to complete its coco-methyl ester (CME) plant in the Bataan Refinery Complex by mid-2025, enabling the company to produce its own CME.
It is also keen on intensifying its environmental, social and governance programs aimed at reducing carbon emission, waste management, and energy conservation.
