Chevron to supply fuel to 9 power plants

Richmond Mercurio - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Caltex marketer Chevron Philippines Inc. (CPI)  has been tapped by Aboitiz Power Corp. to supply diesel fuel to its nine power generation facilities nationwide.

CPI said the partnership underlines the confidence that AboitizPower has in the company and its products to keep its assets operating at optimum condition.

One of the country’s leading energy providers, AboitizPower is engaged in power distribution, generation, and retail electricity services with 3,962-megawatt total capacity.

“With Chevron Philippines as our provider of quality fuel, we look forward to operational efficiency and worry-free operations so that we can keep supplying much needed power to keep the lights on in many Filipino households,” AboitizPower oil business unit president and COO Ronaldo Ramos said.

Emmanuel Lopez, senior vice president of AboitizPower coal business unit, said the company trust Chevron’s reliable service to support its operations as it continues to provide the country with reliable, sufficient, and cost-effective power supply.

“We are also thankful to Chevron for supplying us with the diesel and gasoline requirements we needed to start-up the power plant of Therma Visayas Inc. in Toledo, Cebu right after Typhoon Odette hit. It showed how dedicated and efficient they are in providing service, even during a disaster,” Lopez said.

CPI said Caltex-branded diesel fuel has been specially designed to comply with stringent Philippine emission regulations and other market requirements.

It can also operate efficiently in both high and low-sulfur diesel fuel environments.

“Our partnership with AboitizPower is truly remarkable since we share the same advocacy of providing affordable, reliable, and safe energy. Our number one goal now is to keep AP’s equipment running and electricity flowing at their thermal plants so they can continue to provide for the energy needs of the nation,” CPI chairman Billy Liu said.

In 2021, Caltex opened 35 new retail stations and 73 new Havoline autoPro and bikePro workshops nationwide.
