MANILA, Philippines — Tanduay Distillers Inc. has tapped software provider SAP to digitize its processes and improve operations in its manufacturing plants.

In a statement, SAP said its services were tapped by Tanduay to streamline the rum maker’s manual processes and financial systems.

SAP said Tanduay is using the SAP S/4 HANA, an enterprise resource planning system with intelligent technologies including artificial intelligence, machine learning, and advanced analytics.

“SAP S/4 HANA is the digital platform we need to realize our future growth ambitions. It is unifying our production, sales, and finance in a way that will allow us to bring Tanduay Rhum to the world,” Nestor Mendones, senior vice president of finance and chief financial officer at Tanduay Distillers said.

The system allows Tanduay to monitor financial activities in real-time, as well as avoid discrepancies and duplication of payments.

It also enables the company’s systemwide transactions data to be immediately available at the start of the month, cutting by 50 percent the time needed to do monthly book closing processes to 10 working days from 20 working days.

In addition to financial monitoring, the system is expected to help improve Tanduay’s inventory tracking accuracy.

This, as the company would have on-demand access to inventory data with improved forecasting and procurement planning.

In terms of management of assets, SAP’s solution can automate notifications to Tanduay for repairs and facilitating maintenance requests.

With Tanduay’s processes and data unified in one system, SAP said the rum maker will be able to focus on its more strategic tasks which are necessary for business continuity amid the ongoing pandemic.

“We understand the value of continuous growth for businesses, big or small, to succeed and achieve their company’s goals. At SAP, we do not only offer solutions, but we also offer innovations and progress for businesses, and our goal is to help them be an intelligent enterprise for the digital future,” SAP Philippines managing director.
