Malaysia promotes F&B products in Robinsons Supermarkets

Louella Desiderio - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The trade promotion agency of Malaysia has teamed up with Robinsons Supermarkets to promote Malaysian food and beverage brands in the country.

In a statement yesterday, Malaysia External Trade Development Corp. (MATRADE) said it is set to hold the Malaysia Fest at 46 participating Robinsons Supermarkets and 11 GoRobinsons online stores from Oct. 30 to Nov. 15.

Malaysia Fest will feature 30 food and beverage brands covering more than 150 stock keeping units.

Products to be featured include frozen food like pastry puff, paratha, surimi and surimi-based products, paste and sauces, snacks, biscuits and confectioneries, coffee mixes, drinks and ready to eat items.

“We are excited to bring Malaysia Fest to the Philippine audience in our quest to further promote Malaysia’s food and beverages in this market,” MATRADE Manila Trade Commissioner Siti Azlina said.

She said Kawan Paratha, Mr. Potato, Old Town White Coffee, ChekHup Coffee and Milk Tea, Julie’s, Vochelle and Alfredo Chocolates, Fusipim and Dodo are among the Malaysian brands that have established their footprint in the country.

“We believe our collaboration with Robinsons Supermarkets is very timely as COVID-19 lockdown has been eased and ‘BER’ months are perfect time for Christmas shopping among Filipinos,” she said.

The products are seen to cater to consumers with hectic lifestyles and looking for meals that require less preparation time.

MATRADE said most Malaysian products being sold in the Philippines are halal-certified or considered to adhere to what is allowed under Islamic law.

Among the top qualities of Malaysia’s food products are quality and innovation to ensure the production processes and technologies meet the stringent safety requirements and quality controls.

Many Malaysian brands have obtained Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point certification, an international system used to ensure food safety.
