Malayan’s We Women Program bags award

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Nationwide efforts to promote gender-based insurance solutions and foster women empowerment, through Gender Sensitivity Trainings (GST) for Malayan Insurance’s agents and employees became the Best Insurance Education and Training in the Philippines for 2021, as awarded by the Global Banking and Finance Review of UK.

The GST helped attendees reframe stereotyped generalizations toward women. The conduct of GST was part of Malayan Insurance’s We Women Program, a specialized program developed by Malayan Insurance in partnership with the International Finance Corp. (IFC) with the objective of increased women’s access to risk mitigation and financial protection solutions in the Philippines.

Attended by Malayan Insurance officers, employees, and agents, the workshops series tackled sensitive topics such as identifying the needs and roles of women, overcoming gender and unconscious biases, supporting women’s issues and refining communications and language.

The GST has contributed to making the We Women Program more significant.

Through the We Women Program, Malayan Insurance is focused on becoming the preferred non-life insurance partner of the Filipina woman.

This is a way of contributing to the government’s efforts toward financial inclusion for all and the promotion of gender-based programs via special non-life insurance solutions. Since more and more Filipina women professionals and entrepreneurs are gaining the capacity to acquire hard-earned assets, every Filipina needs to be protected more than ever.

While GST promoted sensitivity and open-mindedness, it paved the way for Malayan’s We Women Program to introduce Stela (Simply The Easiest Live Assistant) Solutions.

“The gender sensitivity trainings helped Malayan’s We Women Team identify and respond to the concerns of women. It enabled us to create relevant products like Stela Solutions to help women mitigate future risks,” said Malayan Insurance WeWomen project sponsor and vice chairman, Yvonne Yuchengco.
