Isuzu unveils N-Series truck

MANILA, Philippines — Isuzu Philippines Corp. (IPC) has unveiled the Isuzu N-Series Smoother light duty truck to better serve the needs of local businesses.

IPC president Hajime Koso said the introduction of the new light duty truck was in line with its aim to offer solutions for businesses.

“In the Philippines, trucks are maximized and utilized almost at 24/7 operations. And with the increasing demand for delivery, especially in logistics, truckers deal not just with the increase in their operation expenses, particularly fuel and maintenance, but also the need for more professional drivers which has become quite a problem. So, we thought, why not make our next truck address all these challenges and more,” he said during the virtual launch of the Isuzu N-Series Smoother.

The N-Series Smoother is IPC’s first light duty truck installed with the automated manual transmission (AMT) technology, providing both the advantage of the automatic transmission’s easy driving operation and manual transmission’s fuel efficiency.

With its gearbox designed like that of an automatic transmission with only two pedals, the truck can be operated with ease as drivers are able to change gears without a clutch. This would mean less fatigue for drivers even during a long drive or traffic congestion.

The Smoother’s AMT technology also gives fuel efficiency, allowing owners to generate savings in terms of fuel expenses and maintenance costs.

IPC is targeting businesses involved in logistics, courier services, food and beverage manufacturing, as well as essential goods delivery for the N-Series Smoother.

Even with the pandemic, these businesses have been growing and the demand for trucks that are easier to drive has increased.

The AMT is initially being made available to the NLR85 variant.

IPC, however, is considering introducing the AMT to other truck categories in the country as well.

Customers can now avail of the N-Series Smoother at all authorized Isuzu dealerships nationwide.

The NLR85 Smoother is available at P1.6 million for the cab and chassis.
