LT Group teams up with Binalot to bring meals to frontliners
MANILA, Philippines — Taipan Lucio Tan’s group of companies has partnered with local fastfood chain Binalot to provide meals to frontliners in the fight against the coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19.
In a statement, Binalot said LT Group Inc. and its affiliates partnered with the fastfood chain to bring the iconic banana-wrapped rice meals to doctors, nurses and healthcare workers on the forefront of the battle against the virus.
LT Group, which has been looking for ways to help in the fight against COVID-19, a disease that has afflicted more than 2,000 individuals in the Philippines, and has put economic activity on a standstill, has decided to directly support doctors, nurses, healthcare workers, hospital administration staff, as well as security guards of different hospitals around Metro Manila.
“These frontliners work tirelessly everyday since the quarantine started and since the number of COVID patients under investigation, patients under monitoring and the COVID-19 positive patients have started to increase in the various hospitals around Metro Manila. Needless to say, they need all the support we can possibly give,” LT Group president Michael Tan said.
A total of 10,000 meal packages have been donated to the National Children’s Hospital, Rizal Medical Center, Quirino Memorial Medical Center, Rosario Maclang Bautista General Hospital, Philippine Heart Center, Novaliches District Hospital and the Quezon City General Hospital.
Since February, LT Group affiliates have been in touch with authorities to provide assistance in terms of critical medical and health supplies needed to combat COVID-19.
LT Group has provided advanced life cardiac support system equipped ambulances, radiology equipment, respiratory machines, protective suits and other personal protective equipment (PPE) such as N95 masks, protective goggles, shoe covers, boots and disposable gloves.
“All of these are vital to reduce the infection risk of our frontline healthcare workers and our uniformed police and military personnel implementing enhanced community quarantine measures,” Tan said.
He said the company intends to continue supporting the frontliners.
“Recently, other countries have been trying to recruit doctors and nurses from the Philippines, They have even posted this recruitment notices on their official embassy websites in an effort to lure healthcare workers to help fight their own COVID crisis in their home countries,” he added.
