MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED December 3; 10:20 a.m.)— Several domestic and international flights on December 3 Tuesday were cancelled in anticipation of the inclement weather caused by Typoon “Tisoy” (International name Kammuri).
The affected airlines made the announcement on Monday ahead of the landfall of Tisoy.
The carriers called off the flights for the safety of their passengers as Tisoy is expected to directly affect several parts of the country.
The Manila International Airport Authority also announced that it would close all the Ninoy Aquino International Airport terminals from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. of Tuesday.
PAL advised passengers with cancelled flights not to proceed to the airport and instead avail of their rebooking or rerouting options.
“We ask our passengers to reconsider their travel plans to and from affected areas for the coming three days, as we expect there to be more cancellations or delays,” PAL advised.
“Even after the typhoon recedes and weather improves, it will take some time for PAL to be able to restore normal schedules, as we would need to reposition aircraft and undertake other operational adjustments based on the adjusted slots and clearances at the affected airports, in coordination with the airport and air traffic control authorities,” it also said.
The country’s flag carrier said the passengers may rebook their flights within 30 days from original travel date or opt for a refund.
Meanwhile, Air Asia said it has notified all its affected guests of flight cancellations via email and SMS.
Air Asia also said it allows flight changes and refunds within 30 days.
