MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte signed a law granting a 25-year franchise to Magnum Air Inc. — which operates SkyJet Airlines.

Duterte signed Republic Act 11410 on August 22, giving Magnum Air a franchise to establish, operate and maintain domestic and international air transport services.

A copy of the law was released by Malacañang on Thursday, August 29.

“Air transport services shall include the maintenance and operation of hangars and aircraft service stations and facilities and other services of similar nature which may be necessary, convenient or useful as an auxillary to aircraft transportation,” the law read in part.

“The grantee shall secure from the Civil Aeronautics Board and from the Civil Aviation authority of the Philippines the appropriate certificates, permits and licenses for its operations,” it added.

SkyJet Airlines utilizes a fleet of 80-seater British Aerospace BAe-146s manufactured in the United Kingdom. The boutique airline has been providing transportation services in the country since 2012.

It offers direct flights from Manila to Camiguin, Batanes and Coron, among others.
