MANILA, Philippines — Ayala Corp., the country’s oldest conglomerate, has launched Data Base as part of its group wide digital transformation.
Data Base is the company’s first ever employee-based community for data talents from within the group. It would be a venue where data experts can collaborate and create data-driven solutions that will positively impact business operations.
Ayala chairman and chief executive officer Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala said the move is part of making Ayala future ready.
“The Ayala of the future is an Ayala that constantly reinvents itself. Throughout Ayala’s history, we have worked to cultivate this culture of innovation and as a result, this has helped us understand and respond to the changing needs of the Filipino,” Zobel said in the event which gathered over 100 attendees from different Ayala business units as well as Ayala executives.
During the company’s annual shareholders meeting last April, Zobel revealed that the group was undergoing a massive transformation to ramp up the digitalization of its companies.
He elaborated on some key components of this digitalization strategy, such as exploring new business models and opportunities, bolder and more deliberate venture capital spending and leveraging data and analytics, among others.
Ayala also gained a foothold in fintech, e-commerce, logistics, industrial technologies and health tech. It also plans to invest substantially in tech innovations globally to help bring the country at par with the rest of the digital world.
“Our portfolio of companies allows us to touch the lives of many Filipinos in various ways. The richness of the data we collect as a group enables us to better understand our customers, optimize our operations, and identify potential opportunities,” Zobel said.
As the central hub for Ayala’s data experts, Data Base can help unify the group in optimizing its businesses, as digitization progressed in different ways and at different rates across the business unit, Zobel said.
